कुमार्यः कथिताः पुण्याः पाण्ड्येष्व एव नरर्षभ ताम्रपर्णीं तु कौन्तेय कीर्तयिष्यामि तां शृणु ॥ ३-८६-११ ॥

'And, O best among men, there in the land of the Pandavas is the tirtha known as the Kumaris. Listen, O son of Kunti, as I now describe Tamraparni.' ॥ 3-86-11 ॥

english translation

kumAryaH kathitAH puNyAH pANDyeSva eva nararSabha tAmraparNIM tu kaunteya kIrtayiSyAmi tAM zRNu ॥ 3-86-11 ॥

यत्र देवैस तपस तप्तं महद इच्छद्भिर आश्रमे गॊकर्णम इति विख्यातं तरिषु लॊकेषु भारत ॥ ३-८६-१२ ॥

'In that asylum, the gods performed penances driven by the desire for salvation. In that region lies the lake of Gokarna, renowned across the three worlds.' ॥ 3-86-12 ॥

yatra devaisa tapasa taptaM mahada icchadbhira Azrame gòkarNama iti vikhyAtaM tariSu lòkeSu bhArata ॥ 3-86-12 ॥

शीततॊयॊ बहु जलः पुण्यस तात शिवश च सः हरदः परमदुष्प्रापॊ मानुषैर अकृतात्मभिः ॥ ३-८६-१३ ॥

'It is abundant in cool waters, sacred, auspicious, and, O child, capable of bestowing great merit. However, this lake is exceedingly difficult to access for those with unpurified souls.' ॥ 3-86-13 ॥

zItatòyò bahu jalaH puNyasa tAta zivaza ca saH haradaH paramaduSprApò mAnuSaira akRtAtmabhiH ॥ 3-86-13 ॥

तत्रैव तृणसॊमाग्नेः संपन्नफलमूलवान आश्रमॊ ऽगस्त्यशिष्यस्य पुण्यॊ देव सभे गिरौ ॥ ३-८६-१४ ॥

'Close to that tirtha lies the sacred asylum of Agastya's disciple, the mountain Devasabha, which is rich in trees, grass, fruits, and roots.' ॥ 3-86-14 ॥

tatraiva tRNasòmAgneH saMpannaphalamUlavAna Azramò 'gastyaziSyasya puNyò deva sabhe girau ॥ 3-86-14 ॥

वैडूर्य पर्वतस तत्र शरीमान मणिमयः शिवः अगस्त्यस्याश्रमश चैव बहुमूलफलॊदकः ॥ ३-८६-१५ ॥

'There is the beautiful Vaidurya mountain, made of gems, auspicious, And also the hermitage of Agastya, abundant with roots, fruits, and water.' ॥ 3-86-15 ॥
