नृगस्य यजमानस्य परत्यक्षम इति नः शरुतम अमाद्यद इन्द्रः सॊमेन दक्षिणाभिर दविजातयः ॥ ३-८६-६ ॥

'We have heard that in the presence of Nriga performing a sacrifice, Indra became intoxicated with Soma, and the twice-born with gifts.' ॥ 3-86-6 ॥

nRgasya yajamAnasya paratyakSama iti naH zarutama amAdyada indraH sòmena dakSiNAbhira davijAtayaH ॥ 3-86-6 ॥

माठरस्य वनं पुण्यं बहुमूलफलं शिवम यूपश च भरतश्रेष्ठ वरुण सरॊतसे गिरौ ॥ ३-८६-७ ॥

'O best of the Bharatas, there is the sacred forest of Mathara, Abundant with roots and fruits, auspicious, And there is a sacrificial post on the mountain by Varuna's stream.' ॥ 3-86-7 ॥

mATharasya vanaM puNyaM bahumUlaphalaM zivama yUpaza ca bharatazreSTha varuNa saròtase girau ॥ 3-86-7 ॥

परवेण्य उत्तरपार्श्वे तु पुण्ये कण्वाश्रमे तथा तापसानाम अरण्यानि कीर्तितानि यथा शरुति ॥ ३-८६-८ ॥

'Then, O king, it is said that in the region north of the Praveni, near the sacred asylum of Kanwa, there are many wooded retreats for ascetics.' ॥ 3-86-8 ॥

paraveNya uttarapArzve tu puNye kaNvAzrame tathA tApasAnAma araNyAni kIrtitAni yathA zaruti ॥ 3-86-8 ॥

वेदी शूर्पारके तात जमदग्नेर महात्मनः रम्या पाषाण तीर्था च पुरश्चन्द्रा च भारत ॥ ३-८६-९ ॥

'And, O child, in the tirtha known as Surparaka, there are two sacrificial platforms of the illustrious Jamadagni, named Pashana and Punaschandra, O Bharata!' ॥ 3-86-9 ॥

अशॊक तीर्थं मर्त्येषु कौन्तेय बहुलाश्रमम अगस्त्यतीर्थं पाण्ड्येषु वारुणं च युधिष्ठिर ॥ ३-८६-१० ॥

'And, O son of Kunti, in that place lies the tirtha called Asoka, rich in wooded retreats for ascetics. Additionally, O Yudhishthira, in the land of the Pandyas, there are the tirthas known as Agastya and Varuna!' ॥ 3-86-10 ॥

azòka tIrthaM martyeSu kaunteya bahulAzramama agastyatIrthaM pANDyeSu vAruNaM ca yudhiSThira ॥ 3-86-10 ॥
