तस्यां गिरिवरः पुण्यॊ गयॊ राजर्षिसत्कृतः शिवं बरह्मसरॊ यत्र सेवितं तरिदशर्षिभिः ॥ ३-८५-६ ॥
'In that region lies the revered hill of Gaya, esteemed by royal ascetics. On that hill is the auspicious lake known as Brahmasara, which is adored by celestial Rishis.' ॥ 3-85-6 ॥
english translation
यदर्थं पुरुषव्याघ्र कीर्तयन्ति पुरातनाः एष्टव्या बहवः पुत्रा यद्य एकॊ ऽपि गयां वरजेत ॥ ३-८५-७ ॥
'For this reason, O tiger among men, the ancients declare: Many sons should be desired, so that even one might go to Gaya.' ॥ 3-85-7 ॥
english translation
महानदी च तत्रैव तथा गय शिरॊ ऽनघ यथासौ कीर्त्यते विप्रैर अक्षय्य करणॊ वटः यत्र दत्तं पितृभ्यॊ ऽननम अक्षय्यं भवति परभॊ ॥ ३-८५-८ ॥
'There, O monarch, flows a great river, and there is a site known as Gayasira. In Gayasira stands a banyan tree, revered by the Brahmanas as the Eternal Banyan, for the food offered there to the Pitris becomes everlasting, O exalted one!' ॥ 3-85-8 ॥
english translation
सा च पुण्यजला यत्र फल्गु नामा महानदी बहुमूलफला चापि कौशिकी भरतर्षभ विश्वा मित्रॊ ऽभयगाद यत्र बराह्मणत्वं तपॊधनः ॥ ३-८५-९ ॥
'The great river that flows by is known as Phalgu, and its waters are sacred. O bull among the Bharatas, in that very place is the Kausiki, whose basin is rich in various fruits and roots, where Vishvamitra, endowed with the wealth of asceticism, attained Brahmanhood.' ॥ 3-85-9 ॥

गङ्गा यत्र नदी पुण्या यस्यास तीरे भगीरथः अयजत तात बहुभिः करतुभिर भूरिदक्षिणैः ॥ ३-८५-१० ॥
'In that direction flows the sacred Ganga, along whose banks Bhagiratha performed many sacrifices, offering abundant gifts to the Brahmanas.' ॥ 3-85-10 ॥
