[व] तान सर्वान उत्सुकान दृष्ट्वा पाण्डवान दीनचेतसः आश्वासयंस तदा धौम्यॊ बृहस्पतिसमॊ ऽबरवीत ॥ ३-८५-१ ॥

'Vaisampayana said, 'Observing the Pandavas, who were filled with anxiety and despondency, Dhaumya, akin to Brihaspati, spoke to them in a comforting manner, saying:'' ॥ 3-85-1 ॥

[va] tAna sarvAna utsukAna dRSTvA pANDavAna dInacetasaH AzvAsayaMsa tadA dhaumyò bRhaspatisamò 'baravIta ॥ 3-85-1 ॥

बराह्मणानुमतान पुण्यान आश्रमान भरतर्षभ दिशस तीर्थानि शैलांश च शृणु मे गदतॊ नृप ॥ ३-८५-२ ॥

'O bull of the Bharata race, O sinless one, listen as I speak of various sacred asylums, holy places, and mountains that are revered by the Brahmanas.' ॥ 3-85-2 ॥

barAhmaNAnumatAna puNyAna AzramAna bharatarSabha dizasa tIrthAni zailAMza ca zRNu me gadatò nRpa ॥ 3-85-2 ॥

पूर्वं पराचीं दिशं राजन राजर्षिगणसेविताम रम्यां ते कीर्तयिष्यामि युधिष्ठिर यथा समृति ॥ ३-८५-३ ॥

'O King Yudhishthira, first I shall describe to you The eastern direction, served by groups of royal sages, Pleasant and delightful, according to my memory.' ॥ 3-85-3 ॥

pUrvaM parAcIM dizaM rAjana rAjarSigaNasevitAma ramyAM te kIrtayiSyAmi yudhiSThira yathA samRti ॥ 3-85-3 ॥

तस्यां देवर्षिजुष्टायां नैमिषं नाम भारत यत्र तीर्थानि देवानां सुपुण्यानि पृथक पृथक ॥ ३-८५-४ ॥

'In that direction, O Bharata, lies a place called Naimisha, esteemed by the celestials. In that region, there are numerous sacred tirthas dedicated to the gods.' ॥ 3-85-4 ॥

tasyAM devarSijuSTAyAM naimiSaM nAma bhArata yatra tIrthAni devAnAM supuNyAni pRthaka pRthaka ॥ 3-85-4 ॥

यत्र सा गॊमती पुण्या रम्या देवर्षिसेविता यज्ञभूमिश च देवानां शामित्रं च विवस्वतः ॥ ३-८५-५ ॥

'Where the sacred and pleasant Gomati flows, served by divine sages, There lies the sacrificial ground of the gods and the altar of Vivasvat.' ॥ 3-85-5 ॥

yatra sA gòmatI puNyA ramyA devarSisevitA yajJabhUmiza ca devAnAM zAmitraM ca vivasvataH ॥ 3-85-5 ॥
