विषम उद्बन्धनं वापि शस्त्रम अग्निप्रवेशनम करिष्ये न हि तान ऋद्धान पुनर दरष्टुम इहॊत्सहे ॥ ३-८-६ ॥
'I would rather consume poison, hang myself, enter the funeral pyre, or use my weapons to end my life. But I will never be able to bear witness to the prosperity of the sons of Pandu!' ॥ 3-8-6 ॥
english translation
[ष] किं बालिषां मतिं राजन्न आस्थितॊ ऽसि विशां पते गतास ते समयं कृत्वा नैतद एवं भविष्यति ॥ ३-८-७ ॥
'Sakuni said, "O king, what folly has seized you? The Pandavas have gone into exile, bound by a solemn vow, so your fears will not come to pass."' ॥ 3-8-7 ॥

सत्यवाक्ये सथिताः सर्वे पाण्डवा भरतर्षभ पितुस ते वचनं तात न गरहीष्यन्ति कर्हि चित ॥ ३-८-८ ॥
'The sons of Pandu are ever true to their word and will not return to the city against their promise. Even if they were to return, breaking their oath and obeying the king’s command, we would maintain a neutral stance.' ॥ 3-8-8 ॥

अथ वा ते गरहीष्यन्ति पुनर एष्यन्ति वा पुरम निरस्य समयं भूयः पणॊ ऽसमाकं भविष्यति ॥ ३-८-९ ॥
'Or else, if they criticize you and return to the city, Rejecting the agreement, once again the stake will be ours.' ॥ 3-8-9 ॥

सर्वे भवामॊ मध्यस्था राज्ञश छन्दानुवर्तिनः छिद्रं बहु परपश्यन्तः पाण्डवानां सुसंवृताः ॥ ३-८-१० ॥
'We would simply observe them closely and keep our own counsel, all while appearing to comply with the king's wishes.' ॥ 3-8-10 ॥
