[व] शरुत्वा च विदुरं पराप्तं राज्ञा च परिसान्त्वितम धृतराट्रात्मजॊ राजा पर्यतप्यत दुर्मतिः ॥ ३-८-१ ॥
'Vaisampayana said, "Hearing of Vidura's return and the king's efforts to console him, the ill-intentioned Duryodhana began to suffer deeply."' ॥ 3-8-1 ॥
english translation
स सौबलं समानाय्य कर्ण दुःशासनाव अपि अब्रवीद वचनं राजा परविश्याबुद्धिजं तमः ॥ ३-८-२ ॥
'His mind clouded by ignorance, he called for Shakuni, Karna, and Dussasana, and spoke to them.' ॥ 3-8-2 ॥
english translation
एष परप्त्यगतॊ मन्त्री धृतराष्ट्रस्य संमतः विदुरः पाण्डुपुत्राणां सुहृद विद्वान हिते रतः ॥ ३-८-३ ॥
'Vidura, the wise minister of Dhritarashtra, has returned. He is a friend to the Pandavas and is always striving for their welfare.' ॥ 3-8-3 ॥
english translation
यावद अस्य पुनर बुद्धिं विदुरॊ नापकर्षति पाण्डवानयने तावन मन्त्रयध्वं हितं मम ॥ ३-८-४ ॥
'As long as Vidura has not succeeded in persuading the king to bring the Pandavas back, consider what actions may be to my advantage.' ॥ 3-8-4 ॥
english translation
अथ पश्याम्य अहं पार्थान पराप्तान इह कथं चन पुनः शॊषं गमिष्यामि निरासुर निरवग्रहः ॥ ३-८-५ ॥
'If ever I see the sons of Pritha returning to the city, I shall again waste away from renouncing food and drink, despite having no obstacles in my way!' ॥ 3-8-5 ॥
