अस्थिरत्वं च संचिन्त्य पुरुषार्थस्य नित्यदा तस्याये च वयये चैव समाश्वसिहि मा शुचः ॥ ३-७८-११ ॥
'Reflecting on the unpredictability of human endeavors, you should neither rejoice nor lament over prosperity or adversity.' ॥ 3-78-11 ॥
english translation
ये चेदं कथयिष्यन्ति नलस्य चरितं महत शरॊष्यन्ति चाप्य अभीक्ष्णं वै नालक्ष्मीस तान भजिष्यति अर्थास तस्यॊपपत्स्यन्ते धन्यतां च गमिष्यति ॥ ३-७८-१२ ॥
'Those who repeatedly recite this noble history of Nala and those who listen to it will be untouched by adversity. He who hears this ancient and remarkable tale will see all his endeavors met with success.' ॥ 3-78-12 ॥
english translation
इतिहासम इमं शरुत्वा पुराणं शश्वद उत्तमम पुत्रान पौत्रान पशूंश चैव वेत्स्यते नृषु चाग्र्यताम अरॊगः परीतिमांश चैव भविष्यति न संशयः ॥ ३-७८-१३ ॥
'Without a doubt, he will attain fame, along with sons, grandsons, and livestock, as well as a high status among men, good health, and lasting joy.' ॥ 3-78-13 ॥

भयं पश्यसि यच च तवम आह्वयिष्यति मां पुनः अक्षज्ञ इति तत ते ऽहं नाशयिष्यामि पार्थिव ॥ ३-७८-१४ ॥
'And, O king, I will dispel the fear that you harbor—that someone skilled in dice may summon me.' ॥ 3-78-14 ॥

वेदाक्षहृदयं कृत्स्नम अहं सत्यपराक्रम उपपद्यस्व कौन्तेय परसन्नॊ ऽहं बरवीमि ते ॥ ३-७८-१५ ॥
'O you of invincible prowess, I possess complete knowledge of the science of dice. I am pleased with you; therefore, take this wisdom, O son of Kunti, and I shall impart it to you.' ॥ 3-78-15 ॥
