सवागतं ते मनुष्येन्द्र कुशलं ते बरवीम्य अहम दमयन्त्या वचः साधु निबॊध पुरुषर्षभ ॥ ३-७२-६ ॥
'Thus instructed, the messenger, approaching Vahuka with caution, addressed him in gentle words, while the blessed Damayanti observed from the terrace.' ॥ 3-72-6 ॥
english translation
कदा वै परस्थिता यूयं किमर्थम इह चागताः तत तवं बरूहि यथान्यायं वैदर्भी शरॊतुम इच्छति ॥ ३-७२-७ ॥
'O foremost of men, you are most welcome! I wish you happiness. Please listen to the words of Damayanti: When did you all set out, and what brings you here? Speak truly, for the princess of Vidarbha desires to know. ॥ 3-72-7 ॥

बाहुक उवाच शरुतः सवयंवरॊ राज्ञा कौसल्येन यशस्विना दवितीयॊ दमयन्त्या वै शवॊभूत इति भामिनि ॥ ३-७२-८ ॥
'In response to her inquiry, Vahuka revealed, "The illustrious King of Kosala has learned from a Brahmana that a second Swayamvara for Damayanti is to be held."' ॥ 3-72-8 ॥

शरुत्वा तं परस्थितॊ राजा शतयॊजनयायिभिः हयैर वातजवैर मुख्यैर अहम अस्य च सारथिः ॥ ३-७२-९ ॥
'And upon hearing this, he has arrived here, aided by excellent steeds swift as the wind, capable of covering a distance of a hundred yojanas. I serve as his charioteer.' ॥ 3-72-9 ॥

केशिन्य उवाच अथ यॊ ऽसौ तृतीयॊ वः स कुतः कस्य वा पुनः तवं च कस्य कथं चेदं तवयि कर्म समाहितम ॥ ३-७२-१० ॥
'Kesini then asked, "From where does the third among you come, and whose son is he? And who is your father, and how have you come to be engaged in this task?"' ॥ 3-72-10 ॥
