बाहुक उवाच पुण्यश्लॊकस्य वै सूतॊ वार्ष्णेय इति विश्रुतः स नले विद्रुते भद्रे भाङ्गस्वरिम उपस्थितः ॥ ३-७२-११ ॥
'Thus questioned, Vahuka replied, "The one you inquire about is known as Varshneya, the charioteer of the virtuous Nala. After Nala departed from his kingdom, he arrived at the court of the son of Bhangasura."' ॥ 3-72-11 ॥
english translation
अहम अप्य अश्वकुशलः सूदत्वे च सुनिष्ठितः ऋतुपर्णेन सारथ्ये भॊजने च वृतः सवयम ॥ ३-७२-१२ ॥
'I am well-versed in the art of horsemanship, which is why I have been appointed as the charioteer. In fact, it is king Rituparna himself who has chosen me for both the roles of charioteer and cook.' ॥ 3-72-12 ॥

केशिन्य उवाच अथ जानाति वार्ष्णेयः कव नु राजा नलॊ गतः कथं चित तवयि वैतेन कथितं सयात तु बाहुक ॥ ३-७२-१३ ॥
'Kesini then responded, "Perhaps Varshneya knows where king Nala has gone, and O Vahuka, he may have also spoken to you about his master."' ॥ 3-72-13 ॥

बाहुक उवाच इहैव पुत्रौ निक्षिप्य नलस्याशुभकर्मणः गतस ततॊ यथाकामं नैष जानाति नैषधम ॥ ३-७२-१४ ॥
'Vahuka then said, "Having brought the children of Nala, renowned for their virtuous deeds, Varshneya departed wherever he pleased."' ॥ 3-72-14 ॥

न चान्यः पुरुषः कश चिन नलं वेत्ति यशस्विनि गूढश चरति लॊके ऽसमिन नष्टरूपॊ महीपतिः ॥ ३-७२-१५ ॥
'He knows not where Nala is. Nor does anyone else, O illustrious one, know the whereabouts of Nala.' ॥ 3-72-15 ॥
