स तवर्यमाणॊ बहुश ऋतुपर्णेन बाहुकः अध्यगच्छत कृशान अश्वान समर्थान अध्वनि कषमान ॥ ३-६९-११ ॥
'Urged repeatedly by Rituparna to make haste, Vahuka carefully scrutinized and deliberated before selecting a few steeds.' ॥ 3-69-11 ॥

तेजॊबलसमायुक्तान कुलशीलसमन्वितान वर्जिताँल लक्षणैर हीनैः पृथुप्रॊथान महाहनून शुद्धान दशभिर आवर्तैः सिन्धुजान वातरंहसः ॥ ३-६९-१२ ॥
'These horses were lean yet strong, capable of enduring a long journey, endowed with energy and high breeding, gentle in nature, free from inauspicious marks, with wide nostrils and swelling cheeks. They possessed no faults regarding the ten hairy curls, hailed from the land of Sindhu, and were as swift as the winds.' ॥ 3-69-12 ॥

दृष्ट्वा तान अब्रवीद राजा किं चित कॊपसमन्वितः किम इदं परार्थितं कर्तुं परलब्धव्या हि ते वयम ॥ ३-६९-१३ ॥
'Upon seeing those horses, the king spoke somewhat angrily, 'What is this that you intend to do? You should not treat us lightly.'' ॥ 3-69-13 ॥

कथम अल्पबलप्राणा वक्ष्यन्तीमे हया मम महान अध्वा च तुरगैर गन्तव्यः कथम ईदृशैः ॥ ३-६९-१४ ॥
'How can these horses of mine, weak in strength and endurance, carry us? How shall we manage to travel this long distance with their assistance?' ॥ 3-69-14 ॥

बाहुक उवाच एते हया गमिष्यन्ति विदर्भान नात्र संशयः अथान्यान मन्यसे राजन बरूहि कान यॊजयामि ते ॥ ३-६९-१५ ॥
'Vahuka replied, "Each of these horses has one curl on its forehead, two on its temples, four on its sides, four on its chest, and one on its back. Without a doubt, these steeds are capable of reaching the land of Vidarbha. If, O king, you prefer to choose others, please indicate them, and I will yoke them for you."' ॥ 3-69-15 ॥
