बृहदश्व उवाच अथ दीर्घस्य कालस्य पर्णादॊ नाम वै दविजः परत्येत्य नगरं भैमीम इदं वचनम अब्रवीत ॥ ३-६८-१ ॥
'Bṛhadāśva said, 'After a considerable time had elapsed, a Brahmana named Parnada returned to the city of Vidarbha and spoke to the daughter of Bhima.' ॥ 3-68-1 ॥
english translation
नैषधं मृगयानेन दमयन्ति दिवानिशम अयॊध्यां नगरीं गत्वा भाङ्गस्वरिर उपस्थितः ॥ ३-६८-२ ॥
'O Damayanti, while searching for Nala, the king of the Nishadhas, I arrived in the city of Ayodhya and presented myself before the son of Bhangasura.' ॥ 3-68-2 ॥
english translation
शरावितश च मया वाक्यं तवदीयं स महाजने ऋतुपर्णॊ महाभागॊ यथॊक्तं वरवर्णिनि ॥ ३-६८-३ ॥
'And, O noblest of women, I recited your words in the presence of the esteemed Rituparṇa.' ॥ 3-68-3 ॥
english translation
तच छरुत्वा नाब्रवीत किं चिद ऋतुपर्णॊ नराधिपः न च पारिषदः कश चिद भाष्यमाणॊ मयासकृत ॥ ३-६८-४ ॥
'However, despite my repeated utterances, neither the king nor his courtiers responded at all.' ॥ 3-68-4 ॥
english translation
अनुज्ञातं तु मां राज्ञा विजने कश चिद अब्रवीत ऋतुपर्णस्य पुरुषॊ बाहुकॊ नाम नामतः ॥ ३-६८-५ ॥
'After I had taken my leave from the monarch, I was approached by a man named Vahuka, a charioteer in the service of Rituparṇa.' ॥ 3-68-5 ॥
