तस्य शापान न शक्नॊमि पदाद विचलितुं पदम उपदेक्ष्यामि ते शरेयस तरातुम अर्हति मां भवान ॥ ३-६३-६ ॥
'Remain here like an immovable object until Nala comes to carry you away. Indeed, at the place he takes you, you shall be freed from my curse. It is because of that curse that I am unable to move even a step. I will guide you for your well-being.' ॥ 3-63-6 ॥

सखा च ते भविष्यामि मत्समॊ नास्ति पन्नगः लघुश च ते भविष्यामि शीघ्रम आदाय गच्छ माम ॥ ३-६३-७ ॥
'You must rescue me, and I shall be your friend. There is no serpent equal to me; I will be light in your hands. Take me up quickly and depart without delay.' ॥ 3-63-7 ॥

एवम उक्त्वा स नागेन्द्रॊ बभूवाङ्गुष्ठमात्रकः तं गृहीत्वा नलः परायाद उद्देशं दाववर्जितम ॥ ३-६३-८ ॥
'Having spoken these words, the prince of serpents shrank to the size of a thumb. Nala then picked him up and made his way to a place free from the flames.' ॥ 3-63-8 ॥

आकाशदेशम आसाद्य विमुक्तं कृष्णवर्त्मना उत्स्रष्टुकामं तं नागः पुनः कर्कॊटकॊ ऽबरवीत ॥ ३-६३-९ ॥
'Upon reaching an open area free from fire, Nala prepared to release the serpent.' ॥ 3-63-9 ॥

पदानि गणयन गच्छ सवानि नैषध कानि चित तत्र ते ऽहं महाराज शरेयॊ धास्यामि यत परम ॥ ३-६३-१० ॥
'At that moment, Karkotaka spoke to him once more, saying, 'O king of the Nishadhas, continue on, counting your steps. Meanwhile, O mighty-armed one, I shall bestow great blessings upon you.'' ॥ 3-63-10 ॥
