सा तैः परिवृतागच्छत समीपं राजवेश्मनः तां परासादगतापश्यद राजमाता जनैर वृताम ॥ ३-६२-२१ ॥

'Surrounded by the crowd, she approached the king's palace. From the terrace, the queen mother observed her amidst the throng.' ॥ 3-62-21 ॥

english translation

सा जनं वारयित्वा तं परासादतलम उत्तमम आरॊप्य विस्मिता राजन दमयन्तीम अपृच्छत ॥ ३-६२-२२ ॥

'She instructed her nurse, 'Fetch that woman. She is forlorn and overwhelmed by the crowd, in distress and in need of help. The nurse obeyed, cleared the crowd, and brought Damayanti to the terrace. Struck with wonder, she then asked Damayanti .' ॥ 3-62-22 ॥

english translation

एवम अप्य असुखाविष्टा बिभर्षि परमं वपुः भासि विद्युद इवाभ्रेषु शंस मे कासि कस्य वा ॥ ३-६२-२३ ॥

'Though afflicted by distress, you possess a stunning beauty, shining like lightning amidst the clouds. Tell me, who are you, and to whom do you belong?' ॥ 3-62-23 ॥

english translation

न हि ते मानुषं रूपं भूषणैर अपि वर्जितम असहाया नरेभ्यश च नॊद्विजस्य अमरप्रभे ॥ ३-६२-२४ ॥

'O one endowed with celestial splendor, your beauty transcends that of mere mortals, even without adornments. Though you appear helpless, you remain unmoved amidst the insults of these men.' ॥ 3-62-24 ॥

english translation

तच छरुत्वा वचनं तस्या भैमी वचनम अब्रवीत मानुषीं मां विजानीहि भर्तारं समनुव्रताम ॥ ३-६२-२५ ॥

'Upon hearing the nurse's words, the daughter of Bhima replied, 'Know that I am a woman of the human race, devoted to my husband.'' ॥ 3-62-25 ॥
