सा गत्वाथापरां भूमिं बाष्पसंदिग्धया गिरा विललापाश्रुपूर्णाक्षी दृष्ट्वाशॊकतरुं ततः ॥ ३-६१-९६ ॥
'Then, having gone to another place, with a voice choked with tears, She lamented, her eyes full of tears, upon seeing an Ashoka tree.' ॥ 3-61-96 ॥
english translation
उपगम्य तरुश्रेष्ठम अशॊकं पुष्पितं तदा पल्लवापीडितं हृद्यं विहंगैर अनुनादितम ॥ ३-६१-९७ ॥
'Approaching this foremost of trees, adorned with blossoms and rich foliage, and resonating with the songs of birds, Damayanti, with tears in her eyes and her voice choked with grief, began to lament.' ॥ 3-61-97 ॥

अहॊ बतायम अगमः शरीमान अस्मिन वनान्तरे आपीडैर बहुभिर भाति शरीमान दरमिडराड इव ॥ ३-६१-९८ ॥
'Oh, this graceful tree in the heart of the forest, adorned with blossoms, looks as beautiful as a charming king of hills.' ॥ 3-61-98 ॥

विशॊकां कुरु मां कषिप्रम अशॊक परियदर्शन वीतशॊकभयाबाधं कच चित तवं दृष्टवान नृपम ॥ ३-६१-९९ ॥
'O lovely Asoka, please relieve me of my sorrow. Have you seen King Nala, the vanquisher of foes and my beloved husband—freed from fear, grief, and all obstacles?' ॥ 3-61-99 ॥

नलं नामारिदमनं दमयन्त्याः परियं पतिम निषधानाम अधिपतिं दृष्टवान असि मे परियम ॥ ३-६१-१०० ॥
'Have you seen my beloved Nala by name, the subduer of enemies, The dear husband of Damayanti, the ruler of the Nishadhas?' ॥ 3-61-100 ॥
