यत्र मे वचनं राजा नाभिनन्दति मॊहितः शरणं तवां परपन्नास्मि सारथे कुरु मद्वचः न हि मे शुध्यते भावः कदा चिद विनशेद इति ॥ ३-५७-१६ ॥

'I do not believe the noble Nala is to blame in this, as he disregards my words while absorbed in the game. O Charioteer, I seek your protection; please heed my request. My mind is troubled, and I fear the king may come to harm.' ॥ 3-57-16 ॥

english translation

yatra me vacanaM rAjA nAbhinandati mòhitaH zaraNaM tavAM parapannAsmi sArathe kuru madvacaH na hi me zudhyate bhAvaH kadA cida vinazeda iti ॥ 3-57-16 ॥

नलस्य दयितान अश्वान यॊजयित्वा महाजवान इदम आरॊप्य मिथुनं कुण्डिनं यातुम अर्हसि ॥ ३-५७-१७ ॥

'Yoke Nala's favorite horses, swift as the mind, and take these twins (my son and daughter) in the chariot to Kundina.' ॥ 3-57-17 ॥

nalasya dayitAna azvAna yòjayitvA mahAjavAna idama Aròpya mithunaM kuNDinaM yAtuma arhasi ॥ 3-57-17 ॥

मम जञातिषु निक्षिप्य दारकौ सयन्दनं तथा अश्वांश चैतान यथाकामं वस वान्यत्र गच्छ वा ॥ ३-५७-१८ ॥

'Leave the children with my kin, along with the chariot and the horses. You may either stay there or go wherever you wish.' ॥ 3-57-18 ॥

दमयन्त्यास तु तद वाक्यं वार्ष्णेयॊ नलसारथिः नयवेदयद अशेषेण नलामात्येषु मुख्यशः ॥ ३-५७-१९ ॥

'But Vārṣṇeya, Nala's charioteer, fully reported that speech of Damayanti's to Nala's chief ministers.' ॥ 3-57-19 ॥

तैः समेत्य विनिश्चित्य सॊ ऽनुज्ञातॊ महीपते ययौ मिथुनम आरॊप्य विदर्भांस तेन वाहिना ॥ ३-५७-२० ॥

'Varshneya, the charioteer of Nala, conveyed the detailed words of Damayanti to the king's chief officers. After discussing the matter with them and securing their approval, O mighty monarch, the charioteer set out for Vidarbha, taking the children in his chariot.' ॥ 3-57-20 ॥
