वार्ष्णेयं तु ततॊ भैमी सान्त्वयञ शलक्ष्णया गिरा उवाच देशकालज्ञा पराप्तकालम अनिन्दिता ॥ ३-५७-११ ॥

'And the blameless daughter of Bhima, well-versed in appropriate conduct for the time and place, spoke gentle words fitting the occasion.' ॥ 3-57-11 ॥

english translation

जानीषे तवं यथा राजा सम्यग्वृत्तः सदा तवयि तस्य तवं विषमस्थस्य साहाय्यं कर्तुम अर्हसि ॥ ३-५७-१२ ॥

'You know how the king has always treated you. He is now in distress, and it is your duty to assist him.' ॥ 3-57-12 ॥

english translation

यथा यथा हि नृपतिः पुष्करेणेह जीयते तथा तथास्य दयूते वै रागॊ भूयॊ ऽभिवर्धते ॥ ३-५७-१३ ॥

'The more the king loses to Pushkara, the stronger his desire to continue playing becomes.' ॥ 3-57-13 ॥

english translation

यथा च पुष्करस्याक्षा वर्तन्ते वशवर्तिनः तथा विपर्ययश चापि नलस्याक्षेषु दृश्यते ॥ ३-५७-१४ ॥

'And just as the eyes of the lotus are subject to its control, So too is there seen a reversal in the eyes of Nala.' ॥ 3-57-14 ॥

english translation

सुहृत्स्वजनवाक्यानि यथावन न शृणॊति च नूनं मन्ये न शेषॊ ऽसति नैषधस्य महात्मनः ॥ ३-५७-१५ ॥

'Absorbed in the game, he pays no attention to the words of his friends, relatives, or even mine.' ॥ 3-57-15 ॥
