तस्य मूर्ध्नि शितं खड्गम असक्तं पर्वतेष्व अपि मुमॊच भुजवीर्येण पफालासि वरॊ हि सः तस्य मूर्धानम आसाद्य पफालासि वरॊ हि सः ।। ३-४०-४१ ।।

sanskrit

'Then the Kuru prince, with all his strength, brought that sharp weapon down upon the head of the Kirata—a weapon that could not be resisted even by solid rocks. Yet, upon striking the Kirata's crown, the mighty sword shattered into pieces.' ।। 3-40-41 ।।

english translation

tasya mUrdhni zitaM khaDgama asaktaM parvateSva api mumòca bhujavIryeNa paphAlAsi varò hi saH tasya mUrdhAnama AsAdya paphAlAsi varò hi saH || 3-40-41 ||

'Then the mighty Partha (Arjuna), facing the Lord in the form of a Kirata (hunter), Struck blows with his fists, hard as thunderbolts, raising smoke from the mouth Of the invincible one who had taken the form of a Kirata.' ।। 3-40-43 ।।

english translation

kirAta rUpI bhagavAMsa tataH pArthò mahAbalaH muSTibhira vajrasaMsparzaira dhUmama utpAdayana mukhe parajahAra durAdharSe kirAta samarUpiNi || 3-40-43 ||

'The mighty son of Pritha, his mouth blazing with fury, unleashed thunderous blows with his clenched fists upon the invincible god in the form of the Kirata.' ।। 3-40-44 ।।
