चिन्तयाम आस जिष्णुस तु भगवन्तं हुताशनम पुरस्ताद अक्षयौ दत्तौ तूणौ येनास्य खाण्डवे ।। ३-४०-३६ ।।

sanskrit

'The son of Pandu then remembered the illustrious god Agni, who had previously bestowed upon him two inexhaustible quivers during the burning of Khandava.' ।। 3-40-36 ।।

english translation

cintayAma Asa jiSNusa tu bhagavantaM hutAzanama purastAda akSayau dattau tUNau yenAsya khANDave || 3-40-36 ||

'I shall, with the tip of my bow, like an elephant with the point of a spear, Send him to the abode of Yama, the wielder of the rod of punishment.' ।। 3-40-38 ।।

'Then the illustrious Arjuna, seizing his bow and pulling the Kirata with the bowstring, struck him with fierce blows that fell like thunderbolts. However, as the son of Kunti began the battle with the end of his bow, the mountaineer swiftly snatched the celestial bow from his grasp.' ।। 3-40-39 ।।

saMprAyudhyada dhanuSkòTyA kaunteyaH paravIrahA tada apya asya dhanura divyaM jagrAsa girigòcaraH || 3-40-39 ||

'Seeing his bow taken from him, Arjuna seized his sword and, eager to conclude the conflict, charged at his foe.' ।। 3-40-40 ।।
