बराह्मणेभ्यॊ ददद गरामान गाश च राजन सहस्रशः मुच्यते सर्वपापेभ्यस तमॊभ्य इव चन्द्रमाः ॥ ३-३४-७६ ॥

'Just as the moon emerges from the clouds and dispels darkness, the king is purified from all sins by generously bestowing thousands of villages and cows upon Brahmanas.' ॥ 3-34-76 ॥

english translation

barAhmaNebhyò dadada garAmAna gAza ca rAjana sahasrazaH mucyate sarvapApebhyasa tamòbhya iva candramAH ॥ 3-34-76 ॥

'Nearly all the citizens and residents of the realm, whether young or old, O son of the Kuru race, extol your virtues, O Yudhishthira!' ॥ 3-34-77 ॥

शवदृतौ कषीरम आसक्तं बरह्म वा वृषले यथा सत्यं सतेने बलं नार्यां राज्यं दुर्यॊधने तथा ॥ ३-३४-७८ ॥

'Thus, O Bharata, people are saying among themselves: as milk in a leather bag, the Vedas in a Sudra, truth in a thief, and strength in a woman, so is sovereignty in Duryodhana.' ॥ 3-34-78 ॥

zavadRtau kaSIrama AsaktaM barahma vA vRSale yathA satyaM satene balaM nAryAM rAjyaM duryòdhane tathA ॥ 3-34-78 ॥

'Even women and children repeat this as though it were a lesson they strive to memorize.' ॥ 3-34-79 ॥

'Therefore, mount thy chariot, equipped with all necessary implements, and swiftly proceed, making the Brahmanas bless thee.' ॥ 3-34-80 ॥
