सहदेवस तथेत्य उक्त्वा तां दिशं परत्यपद्यत ददर्श च हतं भूमौ भरातरं नकुलं तदा ॥ ३-२९६-१६ ॥
'At this, Sahadeva said, "So be it," and proceeded in that direction. Upon arriving, he beheld his brother lying dead upon the ground.' ॥ 3-296-16 ॥
english translation
भरातृशॊकाभिसंतप्तस तृषया च परपीडितः अभिदुद्राव पानीयं ततॊ वाग अभ्यभाषत ॥ ३-२९६-१७ ॥
'Deeply distressed by Nakula’s death and tormented by thirst, he moved toward the water—when suddenly, a voice was heard by him.' ॥ 3-296-17 ॥
english translation
मा तात साहसं कार्षीर मम पूर्वपरिग्रहः परश्नान उक्त्वा यथाकामं ततः पिब हरस्व च ॥ ३-२९६-१८ ॥
'O child, do not act rashly! This lake is already under my possession. First, answer my questions, and then drink of the water and take as much as you may require.' ॥ 3-296-18 ॥
english translation
अनादृत्य तु तद वाक्यं सहदेवः पिपासितः अपिबच छीतलं तॊयं पीत्वा च निपपात ह ॥ ३-२९६-१९ ॥
'However, Sahadeva, overcome by extreme thirst, disregarded these words, drank the cool water, and no sooner had he drunk than he suddenly fell dead.' ॥ 3-296-19 ॥

अथाब्रवीत स विजयं कुन्तीपुत्रॊ युधिष्ठिरः भरातरौ ते चिरगतौ बीभत्सॊ शत्रुकर्शन तौ चैवानय भद्रं ते पानीयं च तवम आनय ॥ ३-२९६-२० ॥
'Then Yudhishthira, son of Kunti, said to Vijaya (Arjuna), "O Vibhatsu, mighty vanquisher of foes, it has been long since your two brothers departed from us! Blessed are you! Go now and bring them back, along with water."' ॥ 3-296-20 ॥
