बराह्मणस्य वचॊ शरुत्वा संतप्तॊ ऽथ युधिष्ठिरः धनुर आदाय कौन्तेयः पराद्रवद भरातृभिः सह ॥ ३-२९५-११ ॥

'Upon hearing the Brahmana’s plea, Yudhishthira was filled with anxiety. Grasping his bow, the son of Kunti hastened forth with his brothers at his side.' ॥ 3-295-11 ॥

english translation

barAhmaNasya vacò zarutvA saMtaptò 'tha yudhiSThiraH dhanura AdAya kaunteyaH parAdravada bharAtRbhiH saha ॥ 3-295-11 ॥

सन्नद्धा धन्विनः सर्वे पराद्रवन नरपुंगवाः बराह्मणार्थे यतन्तस ते शीघ्रम अन्वगमन मृगम ॥ ३-२९५-१२ ॥

'Donning their corselets and armed with their bows, those bulls among men—intent on serving the Brahmana—swiftly set out in pursuit of the deer.' ॥ 3-295-12 ॥

sannaddhA dhanvinaH sarve parAdravana narapuMgavAH barAhmaNArthe yatantasa te zIghrama anvagamana mRgama ॥ 3-295-12 ॥

कर्णिनालीकनाराचान उत्सृजन्तॊ महारथाः नाविध्यन पाण्डवास तत्र पश्यन्तॊ मृगम अन्तिकात ॥ ३-२९५-१३ ॥

'Though they saw the deer not far off, those mighty warriors—the sons of Pandu—hurled barbed arrows, javelins, and darts at it, yet could not wound it by any means.' ॥ 3-295-13 ॥

karNinAlIkanArAcAna utsRjantò mahArathAH nAvidhyana pANDavAsa tatra pazyantò mRgama antikAta ॥ 3-295-13 ॥

तेषां परयतमानानां नादृश्यत महामृगः अपश्यन्तॊ मृगं शरान्ता दुःखं पराप्ता मनस्विनः ॥ ३-२९५-१४ ॥

'As they strove to pursue and bring it down, that powerful deer suddenly vanished from sight. Unable to find it, the high-minded Pandavas, weary and distressed, found themselves overcome with sorrow.' ॥ 3-295-14 ॥

शीतलछायम आसाद्य नयग्रॊधं गहने वने कषुत्पिपासापरीताङ्गाः पाण्डवाः समुपाविशन ॥ ३-२९५-१५ ॥

'Disheartened, weary, and tormented by hunger and thirst, the noble Pandavas wandered through the dense forest until they came upon a great banyan tree. There, beneath its cool shade, they sat down to rest.' ॥ 3-295-15 ॥
