तेषां समुपविष्टानां नकुलॊ दुःखितस तदा अब्रवीद भरातरं जयेष्ठम अमर्षात कुरुसत्तम ॥ ३-२९५-१६ ॥
'And as they sat down, Nakula—stricken with sorrow and moved by impatience—addressed his eldest brother, the foremost of the Kurus, saying:' ॥ 3-295-16 ॥

नास्मिन कुले जातु ममज्ज धर्मॊ; न चालस्याद अर्थलॊपॊ बभूव अनुत्तराः सर्वभूतेषु भूयः; संप्राप्ताः समः संशयं केन राजन ॥ ३-२९५-१७ ॥
'O king, in our lineage, virtue has never been forsaken, nor has wealth ever been lost through arrogance. Never have we turned away any being who sought our aid, nor have we ever said “No” when asked. Why then have we now encountered such misfortune?' ॥ 3-295-17 ॥
