[वै] गते तस्मिन दविजश्रेष्ठे कस्मिंश चित कालपर्यये चिन्तयाम आस सा कन्या मन्त्रग्राम बलाबलम ॥ ३-२९०-१ ॥
'Vaisampayana said, ‘After that foremost Brahmana had departed on another errand, the maiden began to contemplate the power and virtue of those mantras.’' ॥ 3-290-1 ॥
english translation
[vai] gate tasmina davijazreSThe kasmiMza cita kAlaparyaye cintayAma Asa sA kanyA mantragrAma balAbalama ॥ 3-290-1 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptअयं वै कीदृशस तेन मम दत्तॊ महात्मना मन्त्रग्रामॊ बलं तस्य जञास्ये नातिचिराद इव ॥ ३-२९०-२ ॥
'Within herself she mused, "What might be the essence of these mantras bestowed upon me by the exalted soul? I shall waste no time in discovering their power."' ॥ 3-290-2 ॥
english translation
ayaM vai kIdRzasa tena mama dattò mahAtmanA mantragrAmò balaM tasya jaJAsye nAticirAda iva ॥ 3-290-2 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptएवं संचिन्तयन्ती सा ददर्शर्तुं यदृच्छया वरीडिता साभवद बाला कन्या भावे रजस्वला ॥ ३-२९०-३ ॥
'While she was thus reflecting, she unexpectedly experienced her first menstruation. Ashamed and modest, the young girl had entered the state of womanhood.' ॥ 3-290-3 ॥

evaM saMcintayantI sA dadarzartuM yadRcchayA varIDitA sAbhavada bAlA kanyA bhAve rajasvalA ॥ 3-290-3 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptअथॊद्यन्तं सहस्रांशुं पृथा दीप्तं ददर्श ह न ततर्प च रूपेण भानॊः संध्यागतस्य सा ॥ ३-२९०-४ ॥
'And it came to pass that, as she sat upon a luxurious bed in her chamber, she beheld the radiant orb of the Sun rising in the east.' ॥ 3-290-4 ॥
english translation
athòdyantaM sahasrAMzuM pRthA dIptaM dadarza ha na tatarpa ca rUpeNa bhAnòH saMdhyAgatasya sA ॥ 3-290-4 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptतस्या दृष्टिर अभूद दिव्या सापश्यद दिव्यदर्शनम आमुक्तकवचं देवं कुण्डलाभ्यां विभूषितम ॥ ३-२९०-५ ॥
'She gazed endlessly, never wearying of its beauty— when suddenly, a divine sight awakened within her. And then she beheld that god of celestial form, clad in shining mail and adorned with radiant earrings.' ॥ 3-290-5 ॥

tasyA dRSTira abhUda divyA sApazyada divyadarzanama AmuktakavacaM devaM kuNDalAbhyAM vibhUSitama ॥ 3-290-5 ॥
