[परह] न शरेयः सततं तेजॊ न नित्यं शरेयसी कषमा इति तात विजानीहि दवयम एतद असंशयम ॥ ३-२९-६ ॥

'Prahlada said, "Know, O child, with certainty, that neither might nor forgiveness is always the highest merit. Both have their own times and places."' ॥ 3-29-6 ॥

english translation

यॊ नित्यं कषमते तात बहून दॊषान स विन्दति भृत्याः परिभवन्त्य एनम उदासीनास तथैव च ॥ ३-२९-७ ॥

'He who is perpetually forgiving endures many hardships. His servants, strangers, and even enemies often disregard him, and none bow down to him.' ॥ 3-29-7 ॥

english translation

सर्वभूतानि चाप्य अस्य न नमन्ते कदा चन तस्मान नित्यं कषमा तात पण्डितैर अपवादिता ॥ ३-२९-८ ॥

'Hence, O child, the wise do not commend a constant practice of forgiveness alone!' ॥ 3-29-8 ॥

english translation

अवज्ञाय हि तं भृत्या भजन्ते बहुदॊषताम आदातुं चास्य वित्तानि परार्थयन्ते ऽलपचेतसः ॥ ३-२९-९ ॥

'Servants of a perpetually forgiving person tend to disregard him and accumulate numerous faults. Such mean-minded individuals also seek to deprive him of his wealth.' ॥ 3-29-9 ॥

english translation

यानं वस्त्राण्य अलंकाराञ शयनान्य आसनानि च भॊजनान्य अथ पानानि सर्वॊपकरणानि च ॥ ३-२९-१० ॥

'Vile-minded servants also seize his vehicles, garments, ornaments, bedding, seats, food, drink, and other necessities for themselves.' ॥ 3-29-10 ॥
