तम आपतन्तं संक्रुद्धं पुनर एव युयुत्सया अभिदुद्राव सौमित्रिर विभीषण मते सथितः ॥ ३-२७३-१६ ॥
'Guided by Vibhishana, Sumitra’s son swiftly advanced toward Ravana’s wrathful son, who was eager to renew the fight.' ॥ 3-273-16 ॥

अकृताह्निकम एवैनं जिघांसुर जितकाशिनम शरैर जघान संक्रुद्धः कृतसंज्ञॊ ऽथ लक्ष्मणः ॥ ३-२७३-१७ ॥
'Lakshmana, incited to fury and guided by Vibhishana, Sought to slay Indrajit before he could complete his daily rites. With keen arrows, he struck down the warrior, eager for victory.' ॥ 3-273-17 ॥

तयॊः समभवद युद्धं तदान्यॊन्यं जिगीषतॊः अतीव चित्रम आश्चर्यं शक्र परह्लादयॊर इव ॥ ३-२७३-१८ ॥
'Striving to defeat each other, their battle was astonishing— As wondrous as the clash of Indra and Prahlada in ages past.' ॥ 3-273-18 ॥

अविध्यद इन्द्रजित तीक्ष्णैः सौमित्रिं मर्मभेदिभिः सौमित्रिश चानल सपर्शैर अविध्यद रावणिं शरैः ॥ ३-२७३-१९ ॥
'Indrajit struck Sumitra’s son with arrows that pierced deep into his vitals, While Lakshmana, in turn, assailed Ravana’s son with blazing shafts of fiery energy.' ॥ 3-273-19 ॥

सौमित्रिशरसंस्पर्शाद रावणिः करॊधमूर्छितः असृजल लक्ष्मणायाष्टौ शरान आशीविषॊपमान ॥ ३-२७३-२० ॥
'Struck by Lakshmana’s arrows, Ravana’s son was overcome with wrath. In his fury, he loosed eight fierce shafts, swift as venomous serpents, at Lakshmana.' ॥ 3-273-20 ॥
