पराकारस्थाश च ये के चिन निशाचरगणास तदा परदुद्रुवुस ते शतशः कपिभिः समभिद्रुताः ॥ ३-२६८-३१ ॥
'Under this fierce attack, the Rakshasas stationed on the walls to guard the city fled in panic by the hundreds and thousands.' ॥ 3-268-31 ॥

parAkArasthAza ca ye ke cina nizAcaragaNAsa tadA paradudruvusa te zatazaH kapibhiH samabhidrutAH ॥ 3-268-31 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptततस तु राजवचनाद राक्षसाः कामरूपिणः निर्ययुर विकृताकाराः सहस्रशतसंघशः ॥ ३-२६८-३२ ॥
'At the command of their king, hundreds of thousands of Rakshasas, fearsome in appearance and capable of assuming any form at will, emerged.' ॥ 3-268-32 ॥

tatasa tu rAjavacanAda rAkSasAH kAmarUpiNaH niryayura vikRtAkArAH sahasrazatasaMghazaH ॥ 3-268-32 ॥

'Showering a relentless barrage of arrows and driving the forest dwellers before them, these mighty warriors took their positions on the ramparts, displaying their formidable prowess.' ॥ 3-268-33 ॥

zastravarSANi varSantò darAvayantò vanaukasaH parAkAraM zòdhayantasa te paraM vikramama AsthitAH ॥ 3-268-33 ॥

'Soon, those night-wanderers, resembling masses of flesh and with dreadful appearances, forced the monkeys to retreat from the walls.' ॥ 3-268-34 ॥

hk transliteration by Sanscriptपेतुः शूलविभिन्नाङ्गा बहवॊ वानरर्षभाः सतम्भतॊरण भग्नाश च पेतुस तत्र निशाचराः ॥ ३-२६८-३५ ॥
'Many monkey-chiefs, pierced by the enemies' lances, fell from the ramparts, while numerous Rakshasas were crushed by the falling columns and gate-ways, never to rise again.' ॥ 3-268-35 ॥
