उत्पतद्भिः पतद भिश च निपतद भिश च वानरैः नादृश्यत तदा सूर्यॊ रजसा नाशित परभः ।। ३-२६८-२६ ।।

sanskrit

'As the monkeys leapt up, down, and in all directions, the Sun's bright disc was entirely obscured by the dust they stirred, rendering it invisible.' ।। 3-268-26 ।।

english translation

utpatadbhiH patada bhiza ca nipatada bhiza ca vAnaraiH nAdRzyata tadA sUryò rajasA nAzita parabhaH || 3-268-26 ||

hk transliteration

शालिप्रसून सदृशैः शिरीष कुसुमप्रभैः तरुणादित्यसदृशैः शरगौरैश च वानरैः ।। ३-२६८-२७ ।।

sanskrit

'The citizens of Lanka then witnessed their city's walls take on a tawny hue, covered by monkeys whose complexions were yellow like the ears of paddy, grey like Shirisha flowers, red like the rising Sun, and white like flax or hemp.' ।। 3-268-27 ।।

english translation

zAliprasUna sadRzaiH zirISa kusumaprabhaiH taruNAdityasadRzaiH zaragauraiza ca vAnaraiH || 3-268-27 ||

पराकारं ददृशुस ते तु समन्तात कपिली कृतम राक्षसा विस्मिता राजन सस्त्री वृद्धाः समन्ततः ।। ३-२६८-२८ ।।

'The Rakshasas, O king, were astonished to see that the entire perimeter of the city had been surrounded by monkeys, who were everywhere, along with their women and elders, in all directions.' ।। 3-268-28 ।।

english translation

parAkAraM dadRzusa te tu samantAta kapilI kRtama rAkSasA vismitA rAjana sastrI vRddhAH samantataH || 3-268-28 ||

विभिदुस ते मणिस्तम्भान कर्णाट्ट शिखराणि च भग्नॊन्मथित वेगानि यन्त्राणि च विचिक्षिपुः ।। ३-२६८-२९ ।।

sanskrit

'The monkey warriors began to tear down the pillars made of precious stones, along with the terraces and roofs of palatial mansions. Shattering the propellers of catapults and other war engines, they scattered them in all directions.' ।। 3-268-29 ।।

vibhidusa te maNistambhAna karNATTa zikharANi ca bhagnònmathita vegAni yantrANi ca vicikSipuH || 3-268-29 ||

परिगृह्य शतघ्नीश च सचक्राः सहुडॊपलाः चिक्षिपुर भुजवेगेन लङ्का मध्ये महाबलाः ।। ३-२६८-३० ।।

sanskrit

'Grabbing the Sataghnis along with the discs, clubs, and stones, the monkeys hurled them into the city with great force, causing a loud clamor.' ।। 3-268-30 ।।
