तत्र सीता मया दृष्टा रावणान्तःपुरे सती उपवासतपः शीला भर्तृदर्शनलालसा जटिला मलदिग्धाङ्गी कृशा दीना तपस्विनी ॥ ३-२६६-५८ ॥

'After slaying the Rakshasis in the waters, I saw the chaste Sita in Ravana's harem, observing ascetic austerities. She was eager to see her lord, with matted hair, her body smeared with filth, emaciated, melancholic, and helpless.' ।। 3-266-58 ।।
