यदृच्छयाथ तद रक्षॊ करे जग्राह लक्ष्मणम विषादम अगमत सद्यॊ सौमित्रिर अथ भारत ॥ ३-२६३-२६ ॥
'And that Rakshasa effortlessly seized Lakshmana by the hand. Gripped by the demon, Sumitra’s son, O Bharata, was momentarily overcome with shock and helplessness.' ॥ 3-263-26 ॥
english translation
स रामम अभिसंप्रेक्ष्य कृष्यते येन तन्मुखम विषण्णश चाब्रवीद रामं पश्यावस्थाम इमां मम ॥ ३-२६३-२७ ॥
'And as the headless Rakshasa began dragging him toward the gaping maw on his body, Lakshmana cast a desperate glance at Rama and cried out in anguish, "Look, Rama! Behold my plight!"' ॥ 3-263-27 ॥
english translation
हरणं चैव वैदेह्या मम चायम उपप्लवः राज्यभ्रंशश च भवतस तातस्य मरणं तथा ॥ ३-२६३-२८ ॥
'First came the loss of your kingdom, then the death of our father, then the abduction of Sita—and now this calamity upon me!' ॥ 3-263-28 ॥
english translation
नाहं तवां सह वैदेह्या समेतं कॊसला गतम दरक्ष्यामि पृथिवी राज्ये पितृपैतामहे सथितम ॥ ३-२६३-२९ ॥
'Alas! I shall never see you return to Kosala with the princess of Videha, seated upon your ancestral throne as the ruler of the entire Earth!' ॥ 3-263-29 ॥
english translation
दरक्ष्यन्त्य आर्यस्य धन्या ये कुश लाज शमी लवैः अभिषिक्तस्य वदनं सॊमं साभ्र लवं यथा ॥ ३-२६३-३० ॥
'Fortunate indeed are those who shall behold your face, radiant like the moon emerging from the clouds, after your coronation bath in water sanctified with Kusha grass, fried paddy, and black peas!' ॥ 3-263-30 ॥
