परव्रज्यायां हि मे हेतुः स एव पुरुषर्षभ विनाशमुखम एतत ते केनाख्यातं दुरात्मना ॥ ३-२६२-७ ॥
'That great man is the very reason I have taken to this ascetic life. Who is the wicked one that has urged you onto this path, which leads only to your ruin and destruction?' ॥ 3-262-7 ॥
english translation
तम उवाचाथ सक्रॊधॊ रावणः परिभर्त्सयन अकुर्वतॊ ऽसमद वचनं सयान मृत्युर अपि ते धरुवम ॥ ३-२६२-८ ॥
'In response, Rāvaṇa indignantly rebuked him, saying, "If you do not obey my command, you shall surely meet your death at my hands!"' ॥ 3-262-8 ॥

मारीचश चिन्तयाम आस विशिष्टान मरणं वरम अवश्यं मरणे पराप्ते करिष्याम्य अस्य यन मतम ॥ ३-२६२-९ ॥
'Mārīcha thought to himself, "Since death is inevitable, I shall carry out his command—for it is better to perish at the hands of a superior."' ॥ 3-262-9 ॥

ततस तं परत्युवाचाथ मारीचॊ राक्षसेश्वरम किं ते साह्यं मया कार्यं करिष्याम्य अवशॊ ऽपि तत ॥ ३-२६२-१० ॥
'Then he said to the lord of the Rākṣasas, "I shall surely render whatever help you require!"' ॥ 3-262-10 ॥
