[मार्क] मारीचस तव अथ संभ्रान्तॊ दृष्ट्वा रावणम आगतम पूजयाम आस सत्कारैः फलमूलादिभिस तथा ॥ ३-२६२-१ ॥
'Mārkaṇḍeya said, "Seeing Rāvaṇa arrive, Mārīcha welcomed him with respect and offered him fruits and roots."' ॥ 3-262-1 ॥
english translation
विश्रान्तं चैनम आसीनम अन्वासीनः स राक्षसः उवाच परश्रितं वाक्यं वाक्यज्ञॊ वाक्यकॊविदम ॥ ३-२६२-२ ॥
'And after Rāvaṇa had taken his seat and rested for a while, Mārīcha, skilled in speech, sat beside him and addressed the eloquent Rāvaṇa with humble words.' ॥ 3-262-2 ॥
english translation
न ते परतृतिमान वर्णः कच चित कषेमं पुरे तव कच चित परकृतयः सर्वा भजन्ते तवां यथा पुरा ॥ ३-२६२-३ ॥
'Your complexion seems unusual—are all matters well in your kingdom, O king of the Rākṣasas? What has brought you here? Do your subjects still show you the same allegiance as before?' ॥ 3-262-3 ॥
english translation
किम इहागमने चापि कार्यं ते राक्षसेश्वर कृतम इत्य एव तद विद्धि यद्य अपि सयात सुदुष्करम ॥ ३-२६२-४ ॥
'Whatever task has brought you here, consider it already accomplished, no matter how difficult it may be!' ॥ 3-262-4 ॥
english translation
शशंस रावणस तस्मै तत सर्वं राम चेष्टितम मारीचस तव अब्रवीच छरुत्वा समासेनैव रावणम ॥ ३-२६२-५ ॥
'Rāvaṇa, his heart troubled with wrath and humiliation, briefly recounted Rāma’s deeds and the course of action to be taken. Hearing this, Mārīcha gave a concise reply.' ॥ 3-262-5 ॥
