सहस्रनेत्र परतिमॊ महात्मा; मयस्य जेत नमुचेश च हन्ता पितुर निदेशाद अनघः सवधर्मं; वनेवासं दाशरथिश चकार ।। ३-२६-९ ।।

sanskrit

'The illustrious Rama, akin to Indra, the lord of Yama, and the slayer of Namuchi, was sinless and revered. Yet, despite his divine prowess and invincibility in battle, he lived in the forest, accepting it as his duty, and renounced all pleasures at his father’s command.' ।। 3-26-9 ।।

english translation

sahasranetra paratimò mahAtmA; mayasya jeta namuceza ca hantA pitura nidezAda anaghaH savadharmaM; vanevAsaM dAzarathiza cakAra || 3-26-9 ||
