[वै] तत काननं पराप्य नरेन्द्रपुत्राः; सुखॊचिता वासम उपेत्य कृच्छ्रम विजह्रुर इन्द्र परतिमाः शिवेषु; सरस्वती शालवनेषु तेषु ।। ३-२६-१ ।।

'Vaisampayana said, 'After enduring much hardship, the princes finally found a delightful refuge in the forest. There, amidst the Sala trees and beside the Saraswati, they, who were like many Indras, began to revel in their new surroundings.'' ।। 3-26-1 ।।

[vai] tata kAnanaM parApya narendraputrAH; sukhòcitA vAsama upetya kRcchrama vijahrura indra paratimAH ziveSu; sarasvatI zAlavaneSu teSu || 3-26-1 ||

'The great-souled king, foremost among the Kurus, Satisfied all the ascetics and sages in that forest With abundant roots and fruits, As well as the chief among the twice-born.' ।। 3-26-2 ।।

इष्टीश च पित्र्याणि तथाग्रियाणि; महावने वसतां पाण्डवानाम पुरॊहितः सर्वसमृद्धतेजाश; चकार धौम्यः पितृवत कुरूणाम ।। ३-२६-३ ।।

'Dhaumya, their devoted priest and a father figure to the princes, began performing the sacrificial rites of Ishti and Paitreya for the Pandavas residing in the great forest. He carried out these rituals with the same care and devotion as a father to the Kuru lineage, ensuring their prosperity and well-being.' ।। 3-26-3 ।।

'To the dwelling of the accomplished Pandavas, who were living in the forest after losing their kingdom, came the venerable sage Markandeya, a guest endowed with immense and profound energy.' ।। 3-26-4 ।।

स सर्वविद दरौपदीं परेक्ष्य कृष्णां; युधिष्ठिरं भीमसेनार्जुनौ च संस्मृत्य रामं मनसा महात्मा; तपस्विमध्ये ऽसमयतामितौजाः ।। ३-२६-५ ।।

'Yudhishthira, the noble scion of the Kuru race, renowned for his unmatched strength and virtue, paid his respects to the great sage Markandeya, who was revered by both celestial beings and sages, and who shone with the brilliance of a blazing fire. The illustrious and all-knowing sage, endowed with unparalleled energy, observed Draupadi, Yudhishthira, Bhima, and Arjuna amidst the ascetics and smiled, recalling Rama in his mind.' ।। 3-26-5 ।।
