बलिं सवयं परत्यगृह्णात परीयमाणस तरिलॊचनः वरं चास्मै ददौ देवः स च जग्राह तच छृणु ॥ ३-२५६-२६ ॥
'The three-eyed god (Shiva) himself accepted the offering, being pleased, and granted him a boon, and he accepted it - listen to what it was.' ॥ 3-256-26 ॥
english translation
समस्तान सरथान पञ्च जयेयं युधि पाण्डवान इति राजाब्रवीद देवं नेति देवस तम अब्रवीत ॥ ३-२५६-२७ ॥
'Jayadratha humbly addressed the god and sought a boon, saying, "Grant me the power to vanquish all five sons of Pandu in battle while they stand upon their chariots." But the god replied, "That is not possible."' ॥ 3-256-27 ॥
english translation
अजय्यांश चाप्य अवध्यांश च वारयिष्यसि तान युधि ऋते ऽरजुनं महाबाहुं देवैर अपि दुरासदम ॥ ३-२५६-२८ ॥
'And Maheswara said, "None can slay or vanquish them in battle. However, except for Arjuna, you shall be able to hold them back once on the battlefield."' ॥ 3-256-28 ॥

यम आहुर अजितं देवं शङ्खचक्रगदाधरम परधानः सॊ ऽसत्रविदुषां तेन कृष्णेन रक्ष्यते ॥ ३-२५६-२९ ॥
'He whom they call the unconquered god, who bears the conch, discus, and mace - He who is supreme among the knowers of scriptures, that Krishna protects (him).' ॥ 3-256-29 ॥

एवम उक्तस तु नृपतिः सवम एव भवनं ययौ पाण्डवाश च वने तस्मिन नयवसन काम्यके तदा ॥ ३-२५६-३० ॥
'Thus addressed, the king returned to his own abode, while the Pandavas continued to dwell in the Kamyaka forest.' ॥ 3-256-30 ॥
