समस्तान सरथान पञ्च जयेयं युधि पाण्डवान इति राजाब्रवीद देवं नेति देवस तम अब्रवीत ॥ ३-२५६-२७ ॥

'Jayadratha humbly addressed the god and sought a boon, saying, "Grant me the power to vanquish all five sons of Pandu in battle while they stand upon their chariots." But the god replied, "That is not possible."' ॥ 3-256-27 ॥

samastAna sarathAna paJca jayeyaM yudhi pANDavAna iti rAjAbravIda devaM neti devasa tama abravIta ॥ 3-256-27 ॥
