स देवं शरणं गत्वा विरूपाक्षम उमापतिम तपॊ चचार विपुलं तस्य परीतॊ वृषध्वजः ॥ ३-२५६-२५ ॥

'Seeking the protection of the three-eyed god, the consort of Uma, Jayadratha performed severe penance at that very place. Pleased with his austerities, the great deity appeared before him in person and granted him a boon.' ॥ 3-256-25 ॥

sa devaM zaraNaM gatvA virUpAkSama umApatima tapò cacAra vipulaM tasya parItò vRSadhvajaH ॥ 3-256-25 ॥
