[वै] तस्मिन बहुमृगे ऽरण्ये रममाणा महारथाः काम्यके भरतश्रेष्ठा विजह्रुस ते यथामराः ।। ३-२४८-१ ।।

sanskrit

'In that forest abundant with deer, those great warriors took delight, and the best of the Bharata clan enjoyed themselves like immortals in Kamyaka forest.' ।। 3-248-1 ।।

english translation

[vai] tasmina bahumRge 'raNye ramamANA mahArathAH kAmyake bharatazreSThA vijahrusa te yathAmarAH || 3-248-1 ||

hk transliteration

परेक्षमाणा बहुविधान वनॊद्देशान समन्ततः यथर्तुकालरम्याश च वनराजीः सुपुष्पिताः ।। ३-२४८-२ ।।

sanskrit

'Surveying the various parts of the forest all around, they beheld the forest kings, richly adorned with flowers, as pleasing as the seasons themselves.' ।। 3-248-2 ।।

english translation

parekSamANA bahuvidhAna vanòddezAna samantataH yathartukAlaramyAza ca vanarAjIH supuSpitAH || 3-248-2 ||

hk transliteration

पाण्डवा मृगया शीलाश चरन्तस तन महावनम विजह्रुर इन्द्र परतिमाः कं चित कालम अरिंदमाः ।। ३-२४८-३ ।।

sanskrit

'The Pandavas, skilled in hunting, roamed through that great forest. Those destroyers of enemies, who were equal to Indra, spent some time there enjoying themselves.' ।। 3-248-3 ।।

english translation

pANDavA mRgayA zIlAza carantasa tana mahAvanama vijahrura indra paratimAH kaM cita kAlama ariMdamAH || 3-248-3 ||

hk transliteration

ततस ते यौगपद्येन ययुः सर्वे चतुर्दिशम मृगयां पुरुषव्याघ्रा बराह्मणार्थे परंतपाः ।। ३-२४८-४ ।।

sanskrit

'One day, those mighty warriors, conquerors of their foes, ventured in all directions to hunt game for the Brahmanas accompanying them.' ।। 3-248-4 ।।

english translation

tatasa te yaugapadyena yayuH sarve caturdizama mRgayAM puruSavyAghrA barAhmaNArthe paraMtapAH || 3-248-4 ||

hk transliteration

दरौपदीम आश्रमे नयस्य तृणबिन्दॊर अनुज्ञया महर्षेर दीप्ततपसॊ धौम्यस्य च पुरॊधसः ।। ३-२४८-५ ।।

sanskrit

'Leaving Draupadi alone in the hermitage, with the permission of the great ascetic Trinavindu, whose ascetic radiance was resplendent, and of their spiritual guide Dhaumya.' ।। 3-248-5 ।।

english translation

daraupadIma Azrame nayasya tRNabindòra anujJayA maharSera dIptatapasò dhaumyasya ca puròdhasaH || 3-248-5 ||
