दर्शं च पौर्णमासं च कुर्वन विगतमत्सरः देवतातिथिशेषेण कुरुते देहयापनम ॥ ३-२४६-६ ॥
'And, observing the *Darsha* and *Paurnamasa* sacrifices, that guileless one sustained himself on the remnants of food left after offering to the deities and his guests.' ॥ 3-246-6 ॥
english translation
darzaM ca paurNamAsaM ca kurvana vigatamatsaraH devatAtithizeSeNa kurute dehayApanama ॥ 3-246-6 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptतस्येन्द्रः सहितॊ देवैः साक्षात तरिभुवणेश्वरः पत्यगृह्णान महाराज भागं पर्वणि पर्वणि ॥ ३-२४६-७ ॥
'O great king (maharaja), Indra himself, the lord of the three worlds (tribhuvanesvara), along with the devas, would receive his share at every sacred occasion/festival (parvan).' ॥ 3-246-7 ॥
english translation
tasyendraH sahitò devaiH sAkSAta taribhuvaNezvaraH patyagRhNAna mahArAja bhAgaM parvaNi parvaNi ॥ 3-246-7 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptस पर्वकालं कृत्वा तु मुनिवृत्त्या समन्वितः अतिथिभ्यॊ ददाव अन्नं परहृष्टेनान्तरात्मना ॥ ३-२४६-८ ॥
'O mighty monarch. Having embraced the life of a Muni, he would, with a cheerful heart, also provide food to his guests on those sacred occasions.' ॥ 3-246-8 ॥
english translation
sa parvakAlaM kRtvA tu munivRttyA samanvitaH atithibhyò dadAva annaM parahRSTenAntarAtmanA ॥ 3-246-8 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptवरीहि दरॊणस्य तद अहॊ ददतॊ ऽननं महात्मनः शिष्टं मात्सर्य हीनस्य वर्धत्य अतिथिदर्शनात ॥ ३-२४६-९ ॥
'And as that high-souled one distributed his food with joyful readiness, the remainder of the drona of corn miraculously increased upon the arrival of each guest.' ॥ 3-246-9 ॥
english translation
varIhi daròNasya tada ahò dadatò 'nanaM mahAtmanaH ziSTaM mAtsarya hInasya vardhatya atithidarzanAta ॥ 3-246-9 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptतच छतान्य अपि बुञ्जन्ति बराह्मणानां मनीषिणाम मुनेस तयागविशुद्ध्या तु तदन्नं वृद्धिम ऋच्छति ॥ ३-२४६-१० ॥
'Such was the purity of his heart in giving that his food multiplied abundantly, allowing him to feed hundreds upon hundreds of learned Brahmanas.' ॥ 3-246-10 ॥
