जञात्वैतच छद्मना वज्री रक्षार्थं सव्यसाचिनः कुण्डले कवचं चैव कर्णस्यापहरिष्यति ॥ ३-२४०-२१ ॥
'The wielder of the thunderbolt, aware of this secret and intent on protecting Arjuna, will, in disguise, deprive Karna of his earrings and coat of mail.' ॥ 3-240-21 ॥

तस्माद अस्माभिर अप्य अत्र दैत्याः शतसहस्रशः नियुक्ता राक्षसश चैव ये ते संशप्तका इति परख्यातास ते ऽरजुनं वीरं निहनिष्यन्ति मा शुचः ॥ ३-२४०-२२ ॥
'For this very purpose, we have deployed countless Daityas and Rakshasas—those renowned as the Saṁśaptakas. These formidable warriors, celebrated for their valor, will bring about the fall of the heroic Arjuna. Therefore, grieve not, O king.' ॥ 3-240-22 ॥

असपत्ना तवया हीयं भॊक्तव्या वसुधा नृप मा विषादं नयस्वास्मान नैतत तवय्य उपपद्यते विनष्टे तवयि चास्माकं पक्षॊ हीयेत कौरव ॥ ३-२४०-२३ ॥
'Thou shalt rule the entire earth, O king, without opposition. Yield not to despair, for such weakness ill befits thee. O scion of the Kuru race, shouldst thou fall, our strength too shall wane.' ॥ 3-240-23 ॥

गच्छ वीर न ते बुद्धिर अन्या कार्या कथंचनन तवम अस्माकं गतिर नित्यं देवतानां च पाण्डवाः ॥ ३-२४०-२४ ॥
'Therefore, go forth, O hero, and let no other course of action distract thy mind. Ever hast thou been our refuge, just as the Pandavas are the refuge of the gods.' ॥ 3-240-24 ॥

[वै] एवम उक्त्वा परिष्वज्य दैत्यास तं राजजुञ्जरम समाश्वास्य च दुर्धर्षं पुत्रवद दानवर्षभाः ॥ ३-२४०-२५ ॥
'Vaisampayana continued, "Having thus addressed him, the Daityas embraced that bull among kings, and those foremost among the Danavas consoled him with the affection of a son."' ॥ 3-240-25 ॥
