[वै] एवं चिन्तापरिगतॊ दुःशासनम अथाब्रवीत दुःशासन निबॊधेदं वचनं मम भारत ।। ३-२३८-२१ ।।

sanskrit

'Vaisampayana continued, 'While reflecting thus, Duryodhana spoke to Dushasana: 'O Dushasana, listen to these words of mine, O scion of the Bharata race!'' ।। 3-238-21 ।।

english translation

[vai] evaM cintAparigatò duHzAsanama athAbravIta duHzAsana nibòdhedaM vacanaM mama bhArata || 3-238-21 ||

'Accepting this installation I offer thee, be thou king in my stead. Rule the vast earth, protected by Karna and the sons of Suvala.' ।। 3-238-22 ।।

'Like Indra himself watching over the Maruts, cherish your brothers in such a way that they may all place their trust in you. Let your friends and relatives rely on you, just as the gods depend on the one of a hundred sacrifices.' ।। 3-238-23 ।।

bharAtRRna pAlaya visrabdhaM marutò vRtrahA yathA bAndhavAsa tavòpajIvantu devA iva zatakratuma || 3-238-23 ||

'Always bestow gifts upon the Brahmanas, without idleness, and be ever the refuge of your friends and relatives.' ।। 3-238-24 ।।

barAhmaNeSu sadA vRttiM kurvIthAza cApramAdataH bandhUnAM suhRdAM caiva bhavethAsa tavaM gatiH sadA || 3-238-24 ||

जञातींश चाप्य अनुपश्येथा विष्णुर देवगणान इव गुरवः पालनीयास ते गच्छ पालय मेदिनीम ।। ३-२३८-२५ ।।

'Like Vishnu overseeing the celestials, you should always protect your consanguineous relatives. You should also cherish your superiors at all times. Go, rule the earth, bringing joy to your friends and reproving your foes.' ।। 3-238-25 ।।

english translation

jaJAtIMza cApya anupazyethA viSNura devagaNAna iva guravaH pAlanIyAsa te gaccha pAlaya medinIma || 3-238-25 ||
