[वै] धृतराष्ट्रस्य तद वाक्यं निशम्य सह सौबलः दुर्यॊधनम इदं काले कर्णॊ वचनम अब्रवीत ॥ ३-२२६-१ ॥

'Vaisampayana said, "Upon hearing Dhritarashtra's words, Shakuni, seizing the opportunity and supported by Karna, addressed Duryodhana with these words."' ॥ 3-226-1 ॥

english translation

[vai] dhRtarASTrasya tada vAkyaM nizamya saha saubalaH duryòdhanama idaM kAle karNò vacanama abravIta ॥ 3-226-1 ॥

परव्राज्य पाण्डवान वीरान सवेन वीर्येण भारत भुङ्क्ष्वेमां पृथिवीम एकॊ दिवं शम्बरहा यथा ॥ ३-२२६-२ ॥

'By your own strength, O Bharata, exile the valiant Pandavas and rule this earth without rival, just as Indra, the slayer of Shambara, rules the heavens!' ॥ 3-226-2 ॥

paravrAjya pANDavAna vIrAna savena vIryeNa bhArata bhuGkSvemAM pRthivIma ekò divaM zambarahA yathA ॥ 3-226-2 ॥

पराच्याश च दाक्षिणात्याश च परतीच्यॊदीच्यवासिनः कृताः करप्रदाः सर्वे राजानस ते नराधिप ॥ ३-२२६-३ ॥

'O monarch, the kings of the east, south, west, and north have all been rendered tributary to you!' ॥ 3-226-3 ॥

या हि सा दीप्यमानेव पाण्डवान भजते पुरा साद्य लक्ष्मीस तवया राजन्न अवाप्ता भरातृभिः सह ॥ ३-२२६-४ ॥

'O lord of the earth, that radiant fortune, which once favored the sons of Pandu, has now been attained by you along with your brothers!' ॥ 3-226-4 ॥

yA hi sA dIpyamAneva pANDavAna bhajate purA sAdya lakSmIsa tavayA rAjanna avAptA bharAtRbhiH saha ॥ 3-226-4 ॥

इन्द्रप्रस्थ गते यां तां दीप्यमानां युधिष्ठिरे अपश्याम शरियं राजन्न अचिरं शॊककर्शिताः ॥ ३-२२६-५ ॥

'O king, that radiant prosperity which we, with heavy hearts, once beheld in Yudhishthira at Indraprastha is now seen in your possession.' ॥ 3-226-5 ॥
