स गृहीत्वा पताकां तु यात्य अग्रे राक्षसॊ गरहः वयापृतस तु शमशाने यॊ नित्यं रुद्रस्य वै सखा पिङ्गलॊ नाम यक्षेन्द्रॊ लॊकस्यानन्द दायकः ॥ ३-२२१-२२ ॥
'The Rakshasa spirit, Pingala, who delivers the commands that are unerringly obeyed by Indra and the other gods, advanced at the front as the standard-bearer. This foremost of Rakshasas, a constant companion of Rudra, is always engaged in the cremation grounds and is favorable to all beings.' ॥ 3-221-22 ॥
