एवम उक्तः स जग्राह तस्याः पाणिं यथाविधि बृहस्पतिर मन्त्रविधं जजाप च जुहाव च ॥ ३-२१८-४६ ॥
'Thus instructed, he married her in the prescribed manner. Vrihaspati, learned in hymns, performed the necessary prayers and oblations.' ॥ 3-218-46 ॥
english translation
एवं सकन्दस्य महिषीं देवसेनां विदुर बुधाः षष्ठीं यां बराह्मणाः पराहुर लक्ष्मीम आशां सुखप्रदाम सिनीवालीं कुहूं चैव सद्वृत्तिम अपराजिताम ॥ ३-२१८-४७ ॥
'She, who is called Shashthi, Lakshmi, Asa, Sukhaprada, Sinivali, Kuhu, Saivritti, and Aparajita, is known among men as Devasena, the wife of Skanda.' ॥ 3-218-47 ॥
english translation
यदा सकन्दः पतिर लब्धः शाश्वतॊ देवसेनया तदा तम आश्रयल लक्ष्मीः सवयं देवी शरीरिणी ॥ ३-२१८-४८ ॥
'When Skanda became united with Devasena in indissoluble marital bonds, the gods of prosperity, in her own personal form, began to serve him with unwavering devotion.' ॥ 3-218-48 ॥
english translation
शरीजुष्टः पञ्चमीं सकन्दस तस्माच छरी पञ्चमी समृता षष्ठ्यां कृतार्थॊ ऽभूद यस्मात तस्मात षष्ठी महातिथिः ॥ ३-२१८-४९ ॥
'As Skanda attained celebrity on the fifth lunar day, that day is called Sripanchami (or the auspicious fifth day). And as he achieved his goal on the sixth, that lunar day is considered of great significance.' ॥ 3-218-49 ॥
