शरीजुष्टः पञ्चमीं सकन्दस तस्माच छरी पञ्चमी समृता षष्ठ्यां कृतार्थॊ ऽभूद यस्मात तस्मात षष्ठी महातिथिः ॥ ३-२१८-४९ ॥
'As Skanda attained celebrity on the fifth lunar day, that day is called Sripanchami (or the auspicious fifth day). And as he achieved his goal on the sixth, that lunar day is considered of great significance.' ॥ 3-218-49 ॥
