[मार्क] ऋषयस तु महाघॊरान दृष्ट्वॊत्पातान पृथग्विधान अकुर्वञ शान्तिम उद्विग्ना लॊकानां मॊक भावनाः ॥ ३-२१५-१ ॥
'Markandeya continued, "When that powerful, high-souled, and mighty being was born, various fearful phenomena took place. Even the Rishis, seeking the welfare of the world, observed these terrifying signs on all sides. With anxious hearts, they sought to restore tranquillity to the universe."' ॥ 3-215-1 ॥
english translation
निवसन्ति वने ये तु तस्मिंश चैत्ररथे जनाः ते ऽबरुवन्न एष नॊ ऽनर्थः पावकेनाहृतॊ महान संगम्य षड्भिः पत्नीभिः सप्तर्षीणाम इति सम ह ॥ ३-२१५-२ ॥
'Those who used to live in the Chitraratha forest said, "This miserable condition of ours has been caused by Agni's union with the six wives of the seven Rishis."' ॥ 3-215-2 ॥
english translation
अपरे गरुडीम आहुस तवयानर्थॊ ऽयम आहृतः यैर दृष्टा सा तदा देवी तस्या रूपेण गच्छती न तु तत सवाहया कर्मकृतं जानाति वै जनः ॥ ३-२१५-३ ॥
'Others, who had witnessed the goddess assuming the form of a bird, declared, "This calamity has been brought upon us by a bird." No one ever imagined that Swaha was the author of that mischief.' ॥ 3-215-3 ॥
english translation
सुपर्णी तु वचॊ शरुत्वा ममायं तनयस तव इति उपगम्य शनैः सकन्दम आहाहं जननी तव ॥ ३-२१५-४ ॥
'Upon hearing that the newborn male child was hers, she approached Skanda and gradually revealed to him that she was his mother.' ॥ 3-215-4 ॥
english translation
अथ सप्तर्षयः शरुत्वा जातं पुत्रं महौजसम तत्यजुः षट तदा पत्नीर विना देवीम अरुन्धतीम ॥ ३-२१५-५ ॥
'And when the seven Rishis heard that a son of great power had been born to them, they forsook their six wives, with the exception of the beloved Arundhati.' ॥ 3-215-5 ॥
