कपिलं परमर्षिं च यं पराहुर यतयः सदा अग्निः स कपिलॊ नाम सांख्ययॊगप्रवर्तकः ।। ३-२११-२१ ।।

sanskrit

'This is the fire Kapila, the propounder of the Yoga system known as Sankhya.' ।। 3-211-21 ।।

english translation

kapilaM paramarSiM ca yaM parAhura yatayaH sadA agniH sa kapilò nAma sAMkhyayògapravartakaH || 3-211-21 ||

'The fire through whom the elemental spirits always receive the offerings called 'Agra,' made by other creatures during the performance of various rites in this world, is called Agrani.' ।। 3-211-22 ।।

agnira yacchati bhUtAni yena bhUtAni nityadA karmasva iha vicitreSu sò 'garaNIra vahnira ucyate || 3-211-22 ||

'He created these other fires, renowned on earth, which are associated with the Agnihotra sacrifice, but whose impure actions lead to the ruin of the sacrifice, fulfilling the desires of the wicked.' ।। 3-211-23 ।।

imAna anyAna samasRjata pAvakAna parathitAna bhuvi agnihòtrasya duSTasya parAyaczcittArthama albaNAna || 3-211-23 ||

संस्पृशेयुर यदान्यॊन्यं कथं चिद वायुनाग्नयः इष्टिर अष्टाकपालेन कार्या वै शुचये ऽगनये ।। ३-२११-२४ ।।

'These other bright fires, famous in the world, were created to rectify any defects in the Agnihotra rites. If the fires overlap due to the action of the wind, the rectification must be made through the Ashtakapala rites in honour of the fire Suchi.' ।। 3-211-24 ।।

saMspRzeyura yadAnyònyaM kathaM cida vAyunAgnayaH iSTira aSTAkapAlena kAryA vai zucaye 'ganaye || 3-211-24 ||

'If the Southern fire comes in contact with the two other fires, then rectification must be performed through the Ashtakapala rites in honour of the fire Viti.' ।। 3-211-25 ।।
