तयजेत संचयांस तस्मात तज्जं कलेशं सहेत कः न हि संचयवान कश चिद दृश्यते निरुपद्रवः ।। ३-२-४६ ।।

sanskrit

'One should abandon the accumulation of wealth, for who can endure the troubles it brings? Indeed, no one who accumulates wealth is ever seen to be free from difficulties.' ।। 3-2-46 ।।

english translation

tayajeta saMcayAMsa tasmAta tajjaM kalezaM saheta kaH na hi saMcayavAna kaza cida dRzyate nirupadravaH || 3-2-46 ||

अतश च धर्मिभिः पुम्भिर अनीहार्थः परशस्यते परक्षालनाद धि पङ्कस्य दूराद अस्पर्शनं वरम ।। ३-२-४७ ।।

sanskrit

'Those who are free from the desire for wealth are praised by the virtuous, as true peace comes from relinquishing such desires. And as for those who seek wealth with virtuous intentions, it is better for them to abandon such pursuits entirely. It is preferable to avoid the mire altogether than to become tainted and then try to cleanse oneself.' ।। 3-2-47 ।।

'Yudhishthira said, 'O Brahmana, my desire for wealth is not for personal enjoyment. I seek it solely to support the Brahmanas, not out of greed.'' ।। 3-2-49 ।।
