धर्मसेतु समाकीर्णां यज्ञॊत्सव वतीं शुभाम गॊपुराट्टालकवतीं गृहप्राकारशॊभिताम ॥ ३-१९८-६ ॥
'He beheld the city adorned with flags of various creeds, resounding with the noise of sacrifices and festivities, and furnished with splendid gateways.' ॥ 3-198-6 ॥

dharmasetu samAkIrNAM yajJòtsava vatIM zubhAma gòpurATTAlakavatIM gRhaprAkArazòbhitAma ॥ 3-198-6 ॥

'It abounded with palatial residences and was protected by walls on all sides; it boasted many splendid buildings.' ॥ 3-198-7 ॥

paravizya sa purIM ramyAM vimAnaira bahubhira vRtAma paNyaiza ca bahubhira yuktAM suvibhaktamahApathAma ॥ 3-198-7 ॥

'That delightful town was also filled with innumerable chariots. And its streets and roads were many and well-laid, with numerous shops lining them. The city was full of horses, chariots, elephants, and warriors. The citizens were in good health and joy, always engaged in festivities.' ॥ 3-198-8 ॥

azvai rathaisa tathA nAgaira yAnaiza ca bahubhira vRtAma hRSTapuSTa janAkIrNAM nityòtsava samAkulAma ॥ 3-198-8 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptसॊ ऽपश्यद बहु वृत्तान्तां बराह्मणः समतिक्रमन धर्मव्याधम अपृच्छच च स चास्य कथितॊ दविजैः ॥ ३-१९८-९ ॥
'The Brahmin saw many incidents/events while passing by, and he asked the righteous hunter (Dharmavyadha), about whom he had heard from other Brahmins.' ॥ 3-198-9 ॥

sò 'pazyada bahu vRttAntAM barAhmaNaH samatikramana dharmavyAdhama apRcchaca ca sa cAsya kathitò davijaiH ॥ 3-198-9 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptअपश्यत तत्र गत्वा तं सूना मध्ये वयवस्थितम मार्गमाहिष मांसानि विक्रीणन्तं तपस्विनम आकुलत्वात तु करेतॄणाम एकान्ते संस्थितॊ दविजः ॥ ३-१९८-१० ॥
'Following the directions given by those regenerate individuals, the Brahmana arrived at the place and saw the fowler seated in a butcher's yard. The ascetic fowler was selling venison and buffalo meat, and due to the large gathering of buyers around him, Kausika stood at a distance.' ॥ 3-198-10 ॥

apazyata tatra gatvA taM sUnA madhye vayavasthitama mArgamAhiSa mAMsAni vikrINantaM tapasvinama AkulatvAta tu karetRRNAma ekAnte saMsthitò davijaH ॥ 3-198-10 ॥
