अकार्यं कृतवान अस्मि रग दवेषबलात कृतः इत्य उक्त्वा बहुशॊ विद्वान गरामं भैक्षाय संश्रितः ॥ ३-१९७-६ ॥
'The regenerate one began to lament for the dead crane, saying, 'Alas, I have committed a grievous deed, driven by anger and malice!' Thus speaking repeatedly, the wise Brahmana, seeking alms, went to the village.' ॥ 3-197-6 ॥
english translation
akAryaM kRtavAna asmi raga daveSabalAta kRtaH itya uktvA bahuzò vidvAna garAmaM bhaikSAya saMzritaH ॥ 3-197-6 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptगरामे शुचीनि परचरन कुलानि भरतर्षभ परविष्टस तत कुलं यत्र पूर्वं चरितवांस तु सः ॥ ३-१९७-७ ॥
'And, O bull of the Bharata race, while making his rounds for alms among the houses of those of good lineage, the Brahmana entered a house that he knew from before.' ॥ 3-197-7 ॥
english translation
garAme zucIni paracarana kulAni bharatarSabha paraviSTasa tata kulaM yatra pUrvaM caritavAMsa tu saH ॥ 3-197-7 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptदेहीति याचमानॊ वै तिष्ठेत्य उक्तः सत्रिया ततः शौचं तु यावत कुरुते भाजनस्य कुटुम्बिनी ॥ ३-१९७-८ ॥
'Upon entering, he simply said, 'Give.' And he was answered by a woman with the word, 'Stay.' And while the housewife, O king, was engaged in cleaning the vessel from which alms are given.' ॥ 3-197-8 ॥
english translation
dehIti yAcamAnò vai tiSThetya uktaH satriyA tataH zaucaM tu yAvata kurute bhAjanasya kuTumbinI ॥ 3-197-8 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptएतस्मिन्न अन्तरे राजन कषुधा संपीडितॊ भृषम भर्ता परविष्टः सहसा तस्या भरतसत्तम ॥ ३-१९७-९ ॥
'Her husband, O best of the Bharatas, suddenly entered the house, greatly afflicted by hunger.' ॥ 3-197-9 ॥
english translation
etasminna antare rAjana kaSudhA saMpIDitò bhRSama bhartA paraviSTaH sahasA tasyA bharatasattama ॥ 3-197-9 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptसा तु दृष्ट्वा पतिं साध्वी बराह्मणं वयपहाय तम पाद्यम आचमनीयं च ददौ भर्त्रे तथासनम ॥ ३-१९७-१० ॥
'The chaste housewife, seeing her husband, disregarded the Brahmana. She gave her lord water to wash his feet and face, and provided him with a seat.' ॥ 3-197-10 ॥

sA tu dRSTvA patiM sAdhvI barAhmaNaM vayapahAya tama pAdyama AcamanIyaM ca dadau bhartre tathAsanama ॥ 3-197-10 ॥
