[बरा] बराह्मणा न गरीयांसॊ गरीयांस ते पतिः कृतः गृहस्थ धर्मे वर्तन्ती बराह्मणान अवमन्यसे ॥ ३-१९७-२१ ॥
'Hearing this, the Brahmana replied, "In your eyes, Brahmanas are not deserving of superior respect. Dost thou exalt thy husband above us? By leading a domestic life, art thou neglecting the honor of Brahmanas?"' ॥ 3-197-21 ॥
english translation
इन्द्रॊ ऽपय एषां परणमते किं पुनर मानुषा भुवि अवलिप्ते न जानीषे वृद्धानां न शरुतं तवया बराह्मणा हय अग्निसदृषा दहेयुः पृथिवीम अपि ॥ ३-१९७-२२ ॥
'Even Indra himself bows down before them—what can I say of mortal men? O proud woman, dost thou not know, or hast thou never heard, that Brahmanas are like fire, capable of consuming the entire earth?' ॥ 3-197-22 ॥
english translation
[सत्री] नावजानाम्य अहं विप्रान देवैस तुल्यान मनस्विनः अपराधम इमं विप्र कषन्तुम अर्हसि मे ऽनघ ॥ ३-१९७-२३ ॥
'At these words of the Brahmana, the woman replied, "I am not like the she-crane, O venerable sage! O one endowed with ascetic power, cast aside this anger of yours."' ॥ 3-197-23 ॥
english translation
जानामि तेजॊ विप्राणां महाभाग्यं च धीमताम अपेयः सागरः करॊधात कृतॊ हि लवणॊदकः ॥ ३-१९७-२४ ॥
'I know the power of the learned Brahmins and the great fortune of the wise ones - indeed, the ocean was made undrinkable with salt water due to their anger.' ॥ 3-197-24 ॥
english translation
तथैव दीप्ततपसां मुनीनां भावितात्मनाम येषां करॊधाग्निर अद्यापि दण्डके नॊपशाम्यति ॥ ३-१९७-२५ ॥
'I am also aware of the power of the Munis, who have mastered their souls and are endowed with great ascetic merit. The fire of their wrath has not yet been extinguished in the Dandaka forest to this very day.' ॥ 3-197-25 ॥
